How do I find an acupuncturist?
Shopping for an acupuncturist can be an overwhelming experience. We are fortunate that in Los Angeles our access to holistic health options are endless but where do you even start to look? I would recommend the following as a guideline to help you in your search for an acupuncturist:
1. Get referrals from friends and colleagues. Everyone has an acupuncturist these days.
2. Does the practitioner have a Master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine? This is a must.
3. Does the practitioner have a valid license to practice in your state? Also a must.
4. Google your referrals. See what people are saying about him/her.
5. Phone your prospective practitioners. I, for one, love to speak with prospective patients over the phone.
6. Ask your prospective practitioners how long they have been in practice. There is no substitute for hands-on experience.
7. Find out how long your prospective practitioner has been in his/her current location. Stability is good.
8. Make your decision and schedule your first acupuncture appointment. (Most clinics and wellness centers have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Please be courteous.)
This should help you in your search. If you have any further questions, you may phone me at (323) 461-7876.
