Try Yoga

I started my day with a yoga class today.  The class was led by Miss Alex Dawson at Equinox on Sunset.  What a graceful, powerful, and wonderful girl.   If you are looking for a way to detoxify your body, stretch and strengthen your muscles, and clear your head,  yoga is it.  This is, by far, my favorite way to start my week.

I find that most people who seek out acupuncture are willing to participate in other ways to bring them peace and health in their lives.  When I recommend yoga to patients I sometimes get a blank stare followed by a comment like, "But I'm not flexible" or "I went to yoga once and __________ (fill in the blank)."  You don't need a flexible body to show up at a yoga class.  That comes later.  The only flexible thing you need to start yoga is a flexible mind.  

Thank goodness we live in Los Angeles where there are so many different types of instructors.  I've been around for a long time and I've tried many of them.  Ask me next time you see me and I can recommend a few of the phenomenal instructors I know who will be willing to work with you.

Try yoga.  I don't mean just once and claim that it's not for you.  Keep going back and I promise that you will find a strength and peace in you that you didn't know existed.
