Finding Bliss

A patient asked me recently how I manage to always appear so blissed out.  I work at it.  I am a firm believer in the benefits of yoga and practice frequently but my other love is spinning.  Your heart is a muscle and must be exercised regularly to keep it in shape just like your abs or your biceps.  Like yoga, you have to attend a few classes and try a few different instructors to find a class you'll enjoy showing up to regularly.  I'm fortunate to have found Tevia Celli at Body and Soul Workout on Santa Monica Boulevard.  She teaches a 6:15 a.m. class on Tuesday and Thursday mornings that is just phenomenal.  It's like a 45 minute meditation on a bike and you're done at 7:00 a.m.  What a way to start the day!  Her gym's website is:  www.bodyandsoulworkout.net.  Check it out.

What inspires me most about Tevia's class is that Tevia has multiple sclerosis.  When Tevia got her diagnosis several years ago, she decided to take a proactive approach to her health and lead by example.  She manages her symptoms with diet and exercise and has the most positive outlook about her health.  She and her cycling team "Team Body and Soul" raised $180,000 for MS research this past October.  Amazing!

So today, on her 44th birthday, I want to wish her health, success, peace and blessings.  Thank you Tev, for not only teaching me to spin, but for teaching me grace.  You rock sister.

Thanks for reading.

    hi-
thx for leaving a comment on my blog! I miss the Hollywood area, definitely. here it is gloomy and overcast a lot of the time.... I'm not doing acupuncture here cuz I haven't found a good one like you yet! I'm getting therapeutic massage instead, every week for an hour (swedish style). it's really helping my muscles which helps me have less joint pain and more energy. keep in touch! E in WI
