Help! I have numbness and/or tingling in my hands!

Numbness and/or tingling in the hands is becoming an all-too-popular condition these days.  I'm seeing this condition in my practice on younger and younger patients.  In an earlier blog, I mentioned that I could have an acupuncture practice treating neck pain only.  Well, elbow, wrist and hand problems fall into the neck category as well.  The innervation of the hands begins in the neck at cervical vertebra 5 (C5) through cervical vertebra 8 (C8).  This group of nerves is called the brachial plexus and is responsible for pain located anywhere from the top of the shoulder all the way through the tips of all ten fingers.

I find that most people enjoy a recovery from this condition with some acupuncture, light traction on the neck, a little stretching and behavior modification.  I am willing to help my patient get to the root of this problem so that he/she may experience recovery, participate in the healing process, and not suffer a relapse.

I look forward to your thoughts.

Thanks for reading.
