I Don't Have Anything Wrong. Should I Get Acupuncture?

Just recently I stepped into a yoga class to the surprise and delight of seeing a substitute teacher.  I had not seen this yoga instructor in about six months as her classes do not currently fit into my schedule.  While we were exchanging our hellos, she at the front of the room and I at the back, she said, "How is needling?"  A peculiar question, or so it sounded to anyone who did not know I am an acupuncturist.  At that point everyone in the room had turned around to see who would be answering such a question.  I continued my conversation with the instructor about my wonderful recent experiences as an acupuncturist.

Seriously, if you open up a dialogue about acupuncture with me, you should be prepared to pull up a chair as I can go on and on about the tremendous benefits one receives with regular acupuncture treatments.

The floodgates opened and now I had several students with questions.  Some were typical.  My knee hurts, can you help me?  I sit in front of the computer all day, can acupuncture help me with my neck?  I'm a stress mess, what should I do?  And then I got my all-time favorite question, "I don't have anything wrong per se, should I have acupuncture?"  For all of the above acupuncture is most definitely beneficial.

Yes, acupuncture is for everyone.  Don't look for a reason to have acupuncture, simply incorporate it into your wellness routine.  If you are the type of person who enjoys radiant health, good for you, I want to keep you in good form.  The body as a physiological model needs continuous maintenance.  With acupuncture, it could be easier to keep all systems working in harmony rather than wait until your health is in need of restoration.

As an acupuncturist, I move qi.  Qi moves blood and lymph.  Proper blood and lymph flow translates into enhanced immunity as well as the efficient removal of cellular and metabolic waste.  So even if you already feel great, you can most certainly reap the benefits of acupuncture treatments.

Thank you for reading.

That is a great summary of the benefits of acupuncture - you describe the science behind acupuncture, as well as the art, in a concise, relevant manner. I'm sure this will help the many we care for better understand the 'why' behind adding acupuncture to their wellness routine!

This is a really interesting blog. I have always wondered about acupuncture and what it can do for anyone. This topic has been on my list of things to learn more about because people do ask me if I know and if they should and if it works, etc...what do I know. I know I'll send them to your blog because they can learn more here than with me at the wheel. Thanks for the education.
