More About Pumpkin
Since the pumpkin seed entry went over so well, we may as well talk about the rest of the vegetable, right?
I like the inner layers of the pumpkin, also known as the meat. It is sweet so it will tonify the spleen and stomach. Since in Chinese Medicine, the spleen and stomach are the center of your universe and where qi production begins, eating pumpkin just may be the solution to your low-energy problems.
Pumpkin also has the following healing properties:
- Reduces Fever
- Stabilizes blood sugar in diabetics
- Dispels dampness
- Relieves pain
- Regulates bowels
- Calms a hyperactive fetus
- Enhances qi
How much should you eat? One cup of cubed pumpkin equals a serving. So try that as a side dish. I like mine steamed but you may also bake it. Try it and let me know how it goes.
